Fotograu magazine

Each issue of Fotograu presents a sequence of pictures made from greyscale photographs and graphics, which share common themes and motifs. Components are variously combined, altered and arranged in response to perspective, equivalence, association and the ambiguous influence of an enigmatic sphere.

The first issue, published in 2019, sets out the Fotograu concept. A sphere materialises on the front cover; page one establishes a palette of black, grey, white and graphical elements; and, on page two, the photographer's shadow is cast over an uncanny composite landscape.

Fotograu comes in pocketbook size with 44 pages. Free copies are available in PDF format (see Viewing PDFs, below) either via subscription or from the Downloads section below. Some printed back issues are available from the studio's eBay shop and, beginning with No.10, new issues can be purchased from Mixam at cost (we take no profit) via the direct links provided below. Mixam also provide a full 44-page online preview in flip-book format, which is free to read.

The Nash Suitcase

The Nash Suitcase (2025, Studio 6x4) is a book of words and pictures, in which poems sit alongside the photographs that inspired them. Together they describe a world where neither reality nor the imagination holds sway:

"a world between the artistic and the vernacular; between inner visions and the outside reality that informs them; where words, as well as pictures, await".

Sample pages are featured below and excerpts will appear in the blog. A full ebook can be downloaded for free here and should be opened in a PDF reader that provides a two-pages-with-cover-page view, such Acrobat or Xodo, which are both free. Printed copies can be purchased at cost from Mixam (we take no profit) where you can also read a flip-book of the entire publication for free.
